This week's song is titled Rumspringa. When I was six years old I moved from the beloved south, up to Indiana for my Dad's job. It was a tough transition as a young boy, yet many great life observations came from it. One of my first days living in Indiana, I was riding through a small village that looked like it belonged in the 1800's. Quickly I noticed that everyone was dressed in black, and riding horse and carriage...they were Amish! For the next three years living in Indiana, I came to learn about the Amish culture and their fascinating ways of living. If you don't know, Amish have no electricity, or modern technology, and are a crazy germanic christian culture in the Northeast of the US. Well, In the Amish culture when the son or daughter turns 18 years old, they are allowed to leave the Amish village, and go where ever they want in the world, and do whatever they want to do. Talk about letting a wild dog out of it's cage, these Amish people go ham bone and party like Charlie Sheen in the 80's. This year long journey from the Amish ways with no television, no internet, no light...nothing - to the fast lane wildness of the American culture, is called the "Rumspringa." This Ruff Mix Monday #2 is a very choppy recorded dance / gospel tune, that I recorded on Garageband a few years ago. It is an analogy of learning to go out, have fun, and live your life knowing that it is your last. We only live once, and life is so fragile. Yet, we get so caught up in the illusions of stress and fear, that we forget to "live." So what greater way to live, than to live like you are on a permanent Rumspringa. We hope you enjoy it, and please comment below, share, and let us know what you think!

Ruff Mix #2: Rumspringa (written by JK Culbreth June, 2012)

Lyrics:
"I feel down, down today
I do not know why I feel this way
But I know I know that I don’t want this feeling to stay bab-ay

So won’t you be my Rumspringa
Be my Run now
Be my Run now

We only have one shot so gotta we gotta live the ‘Good Life’

We are on
Permanent Rumspringa
Everyday’s our one shot
We Don’t live twice
We gotta live like our last
If we wanna live the ‘Good Life’

Rumspringa
Rumspringa
Rumspringa

You’ve been tellin me bab-ay life aint’ all that great you know
But I’ve been down that Road
Yes I’ve been Down that Road

It’s gone before you know my lady
It slips through your fingers fast
So if you wanna live this life like a good life then you gotta live everyday likes it’s gonna be your last

We are on
Permanent Rumspringa
Everyday’s our one shot
We Don’t live twice
We gotta live like our last
If we wanna live the ‘Good Life’

Rumspringa
Rumspringa
Rumspringa
