This week's Rough Mix Monday is an old Garage Band recording of Will and Coleman singing Brett Dennen's "Ain't Gonna Lose You" when they were 16 years old. If you don't know how we all met, then this song will become a lot more special. When I was 16 years old, Louis, Luke (guitar and drummer of SLO) were in a band together, and Will and Coleman were in a different band together at the same time. One night I saw that Will Blackburn posted some songs of him singing online. I had zero idea that Will could sing, and had to hear what this was all about. After clicking the songs, I was blown away by the most beautiful and touching voice I had ever heard. That night I had a dream, and in my dream a Godly presence came to me and told me that when I wake up, I must ask Will to sing in my band. It sounds Hollywood, but it is true. So, when I woke up I did exactly that, and later that day we met up and jammed for the first time. This is how Will became the lead singer of SLO, and this is one of the songs I heard that day that made it all come together. We love sharing our stories and message with the Purple People who love to be a part of SLOmotion, in return please leave comments and let us know what you think! Much Love!

(Song written by: Bret Dennen - Sung by: Will Blackburn 2007)

"Ain't Gonna Lose You"

You can put a stick in my spokes
I can be the butt of your jokes
I can be the laughing stock, I can be the hoax
But I ain't gonna lose you
No I ain't gonna lose

They can come and tear my house down
They can run me out of town
They can tie me up, call me a clown
But I ain't gonna lose you
No I ain't gonna lose you

I can't stand
The thought of another man
No I ain't gonna lose you

They can make me turn my back on my friends
Send me away to san quentin
Put me in the hole, a thousand times again
But I ain't gonna lose you
No I ain't gonna lose you

Throw me in a hurricane
Tell the whole world I've gone insane
Run an electric shock to my brain
But I ain't gonna lose you
No I ain't gonna lose you

I can't stand
The thought of another man
No I ain't gonna lose you
No I ain't gonna lose you
Ain't gonna lose [X4]

I'll sing it from my roof top
I'll sing it from the bus stop
I'll sing it on the street drunk to a cop
But I ain't gonna lose you
No I ain't gonna lose
Ain't gonna lose you
Ain't gonna lose
